The 64-bed care centre is scheduled to be completed in early 2014. It will house a 48-bed dementia unit and a 16-bed short stay and intermediate care unit.
The home is being developed by The Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT) in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council. It has been designed by architect Hunters.
Stepnell has previously built the Athelstan House care home in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, for OSJCT and is currently completing a care home in Cheltenham for the same organisation.
Managing director Mark Wakeford said: “Our construction team is delighted to be working with OSJCT once again, using its expertise in delivering high-quality care homes to help create this important new facility.”
OSJCT chairman Peter Loyd says: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Lincolnshire County Council on this, the first of three specialist dementia care facilities to be developed in line with the council’s care strategy. It is an important investment in this rapidly growing, high dependency care segment, given that the number of people with dementia nationally is expected to double, from 750,000 currently to more than 1.5 million over the next 25 years.”
