The scheme for Hong Kong’s Highways Department will comprise a dual three-lane east-west trunk road across central Kowloon of approximately 5km length. The scheme will include two major interchanges, cut-and-cover tunnels, building reprovisioning, a section of underwater tunnel and a 3.9 km-long rock tunnel.
It will connect the West Kowloon Highway at Yau Ma Tei Interchange with the road network at Kowloon Bay and the future T2 trunk road at Kai Tak. This in turn will connect to the future Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel.
Managing director of Mott MacDonald Hong Kong KM Yeung said, "This highway and tunnel scheme will be a strategic part of Hong Kong's Route 6 highway network and will be key to relieving traffic congestion in Kowloon."
Arup director and East Asia highways business leader David Pegg said: "We are delighted to win another major infrastructure project in Hong Kong."
