The project comprises a new 206-bedroom hospital, bringing together outpatient and in-patient facilities on the Ayrshire Central Hospital site in Irvine. The development is being funded using the Scottish government’s non-profit distributing (NPD) model.

Balfour Beatty will finance, design and construct the project, which is expected to reach financial close in the third quarter of 2014.

NHS Ayrshire & Arran director of finance Derek Lindsay said: “After a robust procurement process, we are confident that we have made the right decision. Balfour Beatty’s final tender offers a high quality design and therapeutic environment. We are looking forward to working with them to provide the people of Ayrshire and Arran the very best facility possible.”
