BAM wins £20m Sheffield school deal

23 May 17 Sheffield City Council has appointed BAM Construction to build a new school in the southwest of the city.

Mercia School, a £20m secondary school and sixth form development, is being designed by Bond Bryan Architects, with whom BAM has worked before, including on primary schools at Fir Vale and Shirecliffe in Sheffield.

BAM’s design arm will also work on the scheme which includes general hard and soft landscaping, fencing, retaining walls, planting and provision of a multi-use games area. The scheme also includes works to the existing car park and construction of a sustainable urban drainage system.

The school is sponsored Mercia Multi-Academy Trust, which the city council said had a strong track record in Sheffield.
