BAM will build a new home for Coventry University’s Faculty of Health & Life Sciences, which encompasses sports science, materials science, social care and nursing.
The new five-storey science & health building will have 11,260m² gross internal floor area and 7,015 m² net internal area. It will link to the university’s existing sports centre via a shared atrium.
The university says that “the vision is to consolidate the existing science laboratory and health simulation facilities into a new modern multidisciplinary building that will include state-of-the-art healthcare simulation, research and ‘super-lab’ environments”.
The project also involves construction of a separate two-storey energy centre that will provide energy to the Health & Life Science quadrant.
Construction is expected to take 26 months to complete, with opening in 2017.
