Outline permission has been granted for the construction of a development that includes a 10-screen cinema, leisure complex and car park on the site of the Bridgefield Car Park.
Detailed plans for the scheme, which also includes public realm improvements, will be submitted next month. The client’s team includes Gardner Theobald, BDP, Lunson Mitchenall and GVA.
The development is expected to take 15 months to build once a contractor is appointed.
Applications to bid for the scheme have to be submitted by 4th September.
Public consultation on the scheme for the people of Stockport to have their say will be held in the form of three half-day events in the town on 27th and 29th August and 2nd September.
“We’re determined to improve facilities in the town centre so they reflect the needs of people and to do that we need input from as many residents, businesses and shoppers as possible," said Cllr Patrick McAuley, executive member for economic development and regeneration.
