EC clears Cemex over anti-competitive practices

3 Aug 15 Cemex has been told that the European Commission (EC) has closed the investigation into anti-competitive practices initiated in December 2010 and that it will not be subject to any fines.

The EC had formally initiated proceedings on 8 December 2010 against Cemex and other companies regarding anti-competitive practices in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK. These proceedings have not been closed. As a result, Cemex is not subject to any fines or penalties resulting from the proceedings.

Cemex said that it cooperated with the European Commission throughout the process and, in general, will take any necessary steps to continue to operate in accordance with the laws and regulations of the countries in which it does business.
