Fugro will provide an annual survey using its automatic road analyser (ARAN) system with ground penetrating radar.
The survey package also includes surface friction SCRIM testing of Luton’s A, B and C roads and coarse visual inspection (CVI) of unclassified roads. Fugro transport specialists based in Cambridge will process the survey data to generate national indicator reports and provide results that can be used to visualise the condition of the road network.
The contract also provides scope for Fugro to consult on and implement footway network surveys. This will help council engineers to assess and report footway condition and asset values in response to the government’s transport infrastructure asset codes.
The aim of the survey work is to ensure that road maintenance funds are prioritised effectively.
The contract runs to May 2015 with an option to extend for a further two years.
