The National Federation of Builders said that it applauded Hampshire County Council for making construction work available to local SME contractors. Chief executive Richard Beresford said: “We urge our members with experience in the region to bid for work as this will encourage future, similar opportunities in Hampshire. Opening up construction work opportunities to SMEs is crucial for local authorities because it ensures value for money. For every £1 spent with an SME, 90p remains in the local economy.”
