Ian Worgan was with Taylor Wimpey for 12 years, having joined in 2003 as a finance director.
Story Homes has appointed him managing director of Story Homes North East, which is a new position for the house-building company.
Mr Worgan said: “I knew it was time for a change and the Story Homes opportunity came up at the right time. The role will see me help to build the North East region for Story Homes and to recruit the staff to grow the business.
“There are a lot of opportunities in the region with a number of land opportunities already secured or in the pipeline which will allow the business to grow at a fairly rapid pace.”
