Ancient Middle Eastern history and culture will mix with Star Trek at the estimated $1bn-plus (£616m-plus) The Red Sea Astrarium (TRSA), which is scheduled for a 2014 opening.
The contract was signed at a ceremony attended by business leaders from Jordan and the USA.
TRSA is intended to look to the future to celebrate the heritage of the region’s past civilizations, and to serve as a model for “green energy”. It will incorporate renewable technologies throughout and will host a “future” pavilion where visitors can learn about alternative energy sources.
Classic story-telling will be combined with immersive entertainment and TRSA will draw from Nabatean, Babylonian, British and Roman influences. RGH has also joined with CBS Consumer Products and Paramount Recreation to create a Star Trek-themed centre looking ahead to the 23rd-century.
