Highway 6 is the main road connection in South Karelia in Eastern Finland and the contract covers upgrades between Taavetti and Lappeenranta. A 28km long will be improved to four lanes with a central barrier. Some 12km of the section will be an entirely new road. Skanska’s share of the €76m contract is €67m.
The project will be implemented as an alliance, with the client and companies forming a single common organisation. They are responsible for the design and construction and jointly share the risks and opportunities.
The project will be completed one section at a time in 2017 and 2018.
