The project aims to revitalize the area of Samba, Corimba and Futungo de Belas. An area of 400ha will be reclaimed along the coast of Luanda and will be protected by various rock revetments and breakwaters.
The new area will be used for the construction of the Marginal da Corimba highway and a future fishing port as well as marina and real estate development. The rock required for the project will be procured from local quarries.
The contract with the Angolan government includes provision for a financing agreement and credit insurance for Van Oord’s US$400m share in the project.
Van Oord will deploy a variety of dredging equipment on the project, which is expected to be completed mid-2019.
