Former Arup director Joanna Kennedy has been appointed a trustee of the National Portrait Gallery by the Department for Culture, Media & Sport.
Until 2013 Ms Kennedy was global leader for programme and project management at Arup. In 1992 she became the fourth ever female fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers and she was elected a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 1997.
She currently chairs the buildings and estates committee of the Royal College of Art, having been a council member since 2001. Previous posts have included trustee of the Science Museum, Council member of the EPSRC and deputy chairman of the Port of London Authority.
