St Albans City and District Council is inviting expressions of interest from contractors for the construction of a £20m sports and leisure centre.
The new Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre will include a sports hall, swimming pools, fitness suite, exercise studios, changing facilities, plus supporting offices and cafe/bistro. External works include demolition of the existing Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre upon completion and site landscaping, providing vehicle access, car parking and piazza areas.
The facility is expected to achieve industry leading standards in energy efficiency and a BREEAM rating of "very good".
The client will establish a maximum shortlist of five firms for the design and construction contract.
The deadline for expressions of interest is 24 May.
Construction is scheduled to start on 14 October, and be completed by 3 September 2012.
