The project will follow on from construction of a £12m faculty graduate school, the contract for which was awarded to Graham Construction last month.
The new engineering building on the university’s Jessop East site will include lecture theatres and laboratories.
Subject to planning and funding, anticipated start date is given as May 2013, with completion by July 2015.
