The BBC is planning the construction of a 10ha 'creative quarter' as part of the redevelopment of its Television Centre in west London.
The broadcaster would sell the site to developers, but rent space back for programme production, reports the Guardian.
The Television Centre, which celebrates its 50th birthday this year, is likely to be partially demolished and rebuilt as a 1m sq ft development housing other creative organisations.
The bulk of the BBC's staff are relocating to its new Media City development in Salford Quays, Manchester, and the refurbished Broadcasting House in central London.
