Portsmouth's £200m Building Schools for the Future scheme is being plagued by delays.
The project to rebuild 12 schools in the South Coast city is three months behind schedule, with doubts over whether it will happen at all, according to local newspaper The News.
A building contractor was due to be appointed in July but this is unlikely to happen now until October.
Construction work on the first two schools in the scheme - King Richard in Paulsgrove and Priory, Southsea – is due to start next year, with a further 10 schools beginning in 2012.
