Miller Construction has been awarded an £8m deal by the University of Leeds to construct a new archive facility.
The design and build contract also covers storage and exhibition space for Marks & Spencer.
The site is on the University's Western Campus and will comprise three storeys, split to accommodate the archive (a high density racking system), storage facilities, plus staff and public areas at ground floor. Total floor area is 2,600sq m.
Sustainable techniques will be used throughout the design and construction, with the aim of achieving a Breeam rating of ‘excellent’.
The construction works are expected to take around 45 weeks.
