A-Plant has always been associated with offering an outstanding apprenticeship programme since its creation in 2005 and A-Plant is extremely proud that out of 1,600 applicants, Dale Lidbetter, Plant Maintenance Apprentice for the company, was awarded a ‘Highly Commended’ certificate and recognition for the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ category at the North West regional heat of the prestigious National Apprenticeship Awards, held at Haydock Park Racecourse and presented by members of the North West Apprenticeship Ambassador Network.

The Awards run by the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS), are open to all organisations who employ apprentices, as well as to apprentices themselves and are designed to recognise apprentices and employers not just for excelling in their chosen field, but also for spreading opportunity and enhancing the nation’s sense of drive and aspiration.

Dale, who works at A-Plant’s Leatherhead Service Centre in Surrey, began his apprenticeship in 2009 due to his passion and enthusiasm in mechanics and plant maintenance. After successfully achieving his NVQ Level 2, Dale is now working towards completing his NVQ Level 3 and continues to use his initiative and forward thinking attitude to progress his apprenticeship and in turn his chosen future career path.

Sue Price, director for the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS) in the North West said: “This year’s awards were a terrific showcase of the outstanding wealth of Apprenticeship talent that we have across the country….it’s been a tough year for businesses and the economy, but the awards have given Apprenticeships the chance to shine - showing that they are key to growth during the economic upturn.”
