Administrators called in at DW Roberts Construction

12 Apr 11 DW Roberts Construction has been put into administration by its directors.

The family-owned business based in Stoke on Trent employed 50 staff and has been trading since 1978.  It operated as a regional groundworks company servicing major house builders within the Midlands and the North West.

The company has not been profitable since the downturn and the consequent rapid decline in the new build housing market. A shortage of funds meant that it was struggling to pay suppliers and so was unable to secure key supplies to maintain ongoing trading.

Graham Bushby and Guy Mander of Baker Tilly Restructuring & Recovery have been appointed joint administrators. "Like many in the building sector, DW Roberts Construction Limited has experienced difficult trading conditions since the downturn in the house building sector from 2008,” said Busby.

"Due to lack of funding the business has ceased trading and all the staff have regrettably been made redundant. However, there are a number of potential purchasers and we are hoping that we may be able to secure a sale of the business and assets in due course."
