Aecom success in northeast

17 Mar 11 Consultant Aecom has picked up a pair of new contracts at its Newcastle office.

Firstly, Aecom has been appointed by property group Stockland to provide advice and prepare tender documents for the redevelopment of retail units in Billingham town centre.

Originally built in the 1960s, Billingham town centre has suffered in recent years from the growth of out of town shopping. Stockton Borough Council has approved Stockland’s masterplan to revive it.

Aecom will work with project partners including cost consultant Ryder Levit Bucknall and Colman Architects.

In a second appointment, Aecom has been selected by Gateshead NHS Trust to provide mechanical and electrical services for the refurbishment of the Elmwood Building at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The building will undergo a change in use, from care home to palliative care, with offices being built on the first floor of the building. The 1,100 square metre refurbishment will take place on a live site.

Aecom’s Newcastle office is also working on a portfolio of projects in the education sector.
