Aggregates recycler in administration

21 Feb 11 Sustainable Aggregates Ltd, formed in 2007 to develop a network of recycling hubs across the south of England and Wales, has gone into administration.

The company is based in Farnham, Surrey and had recycling sites in Bristol, Plymouth and Taunton to take construction waste and recycle it for new use to avoid landfill.

Traditional recycling facilities typically recover just 40-60% of the incoming waste with the balance still ending up at landfill. Sustainable Aggregates could claim to recover close to 100% by blending a special cementitious binder called SMR into the processed excavated spoil. SMR is produced by sister company SMR (UK) Ltd.

Insolvency practitioners David Rolph and Jeremy Willmont  of DBirmingham-based Moore Stephens LLP were appointed as join administrators on Valentine’s Day.
