Amec wins £140m North Sea contract

31 Jan 11 BG Group has given Amec a three-year contract worth £140m to support all its North Sea upstream assets. Amec will provide engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and project management for facilities that include the Armada, North Everest and Lomond platforms.

Amec is already on Armada, but the re-newed contract is effectively three times the size of the previous one.

Projects under the new contract include the implementation of subsea tie backs from the Gaupe and North West Seymour wells to the Armada platform hub and a new subsea tie back to the North Everest platform hub.

It also includes a feasibility study for the continued development of the Armada platform as a processing hub.

To increase offshore capacity, work has begun in January to install additional living quarters on the North Everest platform.

John Pearson, managing director of Amec's Europe and West Africa business, said: "I am proud of our proven performance, safety record and drive for continuous improvement, all of which have helped us secure this award.  We look forward to another three years of excellent delivery for BG Group and for the North Sea."
