Amey appoints two divisional directors

23 Feb 11 Amey has appointed a new managing director for of its local government division and a business development director for its rail and highways division.

Nick Gregg joins from Biffa Waste Services, where he was managing director of the collections division, to head up Amey’s local government division with a remit to drive growth in highways and infrastructure projects.

John Faulkner joins from the Department of Transport, where he was head of strategy, and at Amey will seekto develop new business opportunities in rail and highways.

Mr Gregg will lead delivery of Amey’s local government schemes including the £2.7bn, 25-year Birmingham highway maintenance and management service contract, the biggest local government highways sector PFI in the UK.

Amey chief executive Mel Ewell said: “We are delighted to appoint someone of Nick’s calibre to drive further growth in our local government division. Nick’s expertise in business management, strategy and financial performance will directly complement and enhance our existing team.”

Mr Gregg said: “I am pleased to be joining Amey at such a pivotal time for local government. The sector is currently undergoing a number of changes and I look forward to working with our current and future clients to develop innovative and cost effective solutions that deliver the best possible outcomes for the public”.  

Mr Faulkner, a chartered civil engineer, said of his own move: “It’s an exciting time to be moving to the private sector as we enter a new phase of public sector delivery. I look forward to evolving Amey’s highways and rail offering, sharing my experience and helping develop the business even further.”

Steve Withers, managing director of Amey’s Inter Urban division, said: “We are delighted to welcome John to Amey. His government and transport experience will be a real boost to the delivery of our strategic transport projects.”
