Apollo and Halton Housing Trust work together to create jobs

4 May 11 As part of Halton Housing Trust’s multi-million pound investment scheme, Apollo is looking for local people and companies to employ on the project.

The nationwide property services provider invited anyone interested in a number of specific roles, along with local suppliers and contractors interested in working with Apollo, to attend a ‘Meet the Contractor’ event, held at the Halton Stadium in Widnes.

Following the completion of its Decent Homes programme, Halton Housing Trust’s mission is to improve communities through the Transforming Lives initiative, which will involve a five year programme of community improvement initiatives, decided by consultation between the Trust and its residents.

The drop-in recruitment session attracted more than 200 people, with Apollo and Halton Housing Trust staff on hand to discuss the local opportunities.

Mike Edwards, Apollo’s Divisional Director, said: “It is important to Apollo that we invest in the communities where we work, and we are committed to assisting Halton Housing Trust in transforming the lives of local people.  One way we can do this is by providing employment opportunities for both individuals and local companies.  This not only increases our ability to operate effectively in the area, but also serves to support the local economy and region.”

Nick Atkin, Halton Housing Trust’s Chief Executive added: “Halton is full of high-quality, skilled trades people and we want them to make a difference.”

Apollo has carried out a programme of similar events nationwide, as part of its commitment to helping support local businesses and employment in the regions where it operates.  Events have been held across the country, in locations ranging from Glasgow, to Birmingham and Cardiff.
