In April, the James Review into school building recommended a standardisation in school building design, to avoid costly architects’ fees starting every new school building from scratch. The type of solution being recommended has since been put forward by Wates and Capita Symonds, who have together come up with a model to cut the cost of a typical new primary school by almost 50%.
