However, while the client is happy for Ashe to re-start, it must first wait for insurance issues to be settled.
Construction of the new £7.5m City Gates Christian Centre in Ilford had just topped out when the structure fell to the ground on 31 January. The middle of the building collapsed leaving just skeletal outer steelwork standing.
The site has since been cleared of everything but hoardings and cabins and taken back to ground floor slab. Even the tower crane has been taken down.
Ashe Construction, main contractor on the job, will this week site down with City Gates church representatives to discuss starting the project over again. “The client has said they are happy to proceed with us,” said Ashe business development director Andy Morris. He added that the church remained fully committed to putting up the new building.
However, when work can resume depends on the outcome of discussions with insurance companies, he said. Insurance inspectors will to visit the site next week along with health and safety inspectors.
Mr Morris said that it was still too soon to comment on the cause of the collapse.
