Atkins signs up for new US Air Force contract

15 Jun 11 The US Air Force has awarded the Atkins-Merrick Joint Venture a five-year, US$14 million contract to provide architecture and engineering (A-E) services for bases worldwide.

The indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract for Air Combat Command (ACC) covers new construction, maintenance, renovation, and repair of facilities and infrastructure. This is Atkins’ third consecutive five-year IDIQ contract with ACC since 2000.

Atkins senior project manager Kevin Siegel said: “We are delighted by ACC’s continued trust in our firm’s capabilities and our exceptional staff. We will continue to go above and beyond to serve this very valued client, just as we have done for more than a decade.”

Over the past 10 years, Atkins has performed A-E services for 43 task orders - ranging from under US$20,000 to more than US$730,000 - at Air Force installations in the USA and elsewhere. The work has involved nearly 100 in-house staff from 19 different offices, as well as 14 subconsultants.

Previous projects have ranged from broad, multi-site condition assessments to in-depth analysis of command-level information management systems.

Under the new contract, the Atkins-Merrick team will provide architectural, civil, electrical, mechanical, structural, and other engineering services for facility and infrastructure projects, surveys, and studies at installations and sites assigned to ACC.

ACC’s mission is to serve as the USA’s primary provider of combat air power. It operates 13 major installations and supports tenant units on non-ACC bases around the world.
