Australia and NZ launch biggest migration drive in 40 years

15 Apr 12 Australia and New Zealand are conducting one of their biggest migration drives in years to attract skilled trades people down under, according to migration advisor The Emigration Group.

“There is a huge shortage of skilled trades people down under,” said director Paul Arthur. “In New Zealand’s Canterbury region alone they are looking for 30,000 construction workers to help with the rebuild programme and Australia is no different, with skilled construction workers from electricians to plumbers and engineers in demand.  As a result there is major migration drive under way, offering a great opportunity for Brits looking to move down under.”

The Emigration Group has teamed up with SkilledMigrantJobs.com, the Down Under Tradies Group and The UK Joint Industry Board to provide a series of trade-specific events for UK and Irish trades people who are looking to emigrate.

There are lots of job opportunities and with the correct help a good chance of making a successful visa application, said Arthur. He added: “Working down under is a totally different environment to the UK; there is more of a positive attitude, less stress and everyone working together to try and help the economy to keep growing.”
