Nearly 800 employees at the nine regional operations and South Derbyshire HQ were informed of the deal yesterday, which is expected to complete next month. All locations are expected to be kept operational under Bachy.
Bachy Soletanche is part of the massive Vinci construction group.
Roger Bullivant himself, who founded the business in 1971, told his local paper, the Burton Mail: “At 72, I’ve taken the difficult decision to sell Roger Bullivant Ltd in order to channel more of my energies into one of the most exciting projects I have ever been involved in, Drakelow Park,” Mr Bullivant said.
“This sale, to a company as large as Soletanche Bachy, will safeguard its future in South Derbyshire and ensure the business can continue to go from strength to strength while securing the ongoing position for the loyal employees who have been part of the Roger Bullivant family.
The Drakelow Park project is a 110 hectare brownfield development in South Derbyshire that has planning permissions for more than 2,200 homes.
