Bam Clough JV lands LNG contract

9 Feb 12 The Bam Clough Joint Venture has received a letter of intent for a contract valued at €110m (£91m) for work on a liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility near Darwin, Australia.

The work for the JGC Corporation, KBR and Chiyoda Corporation joint venture involves the design and construction of of a module offloading facility (MOF) near Darwin. The MOF will be constructed as part of the Ichthys LNG facility. It will be used to offload modules being supplied under other subcontracts to assemble the LNG liquefaction plant.

The letter of intent opens the way for BAM Clough to start the engineering, procurement and planning work for the project. Construction activities for the MOF are scheduled to start in early 2013 for completion in early 2014. At peak the project will employ a workforce of 130.

The Ichthys LNG Project is a joint venture between INPEX (76%, the operator) and Total (24%). Gas from the Ichthys Fieldwill undergo preliminary processing offshore to remove water and extract condensate. It will then be exported to onshore processing facilities in Darwin via an 889km subsea pipeline.
