BAM wins quaywall contract in Cameroon

15 Jan 13 BAM International has been awarded a contract for the design and construction of a quay wall for Limbe Shipyard, approximately 80km north of Douala, Cameroon’s main commercial city.

The value of the contract amounts to €29 million. BAM expects to hand over the quay wall to Cameroon Shipyard and Industrial Engineering in May 2014.

Construction of the 320m-long quay wall will involve installing 55t rectangular concrete blocks on an underwater concrete foundation. The water depth is 12m to 18m.

In 2007 BAM International completed the design and construction of a 700m-long breakwater, which shelters the shipyard from the Atlantic Ocean waves.
