Northamptonshire-based Barton Plant, part of The Bennie Group, bought the Bell L1806E wheeled loader primarily to operate in its recycling and landfill operations.

The purchasing decision followed a demonstration of a larger machine, the Bell L2106E, at sister company Peter Bennie’s Cauldon Low quarry.

Bell loaders have only been available in the UK for the past four years. Barton Plant service manager Pete Tye said he was impressed by the high specification of the Bell machines, its price, availability and the service offered by Bell.

“We spoke to various people who run Bells as well as machines from other manufacturers, and I got a very positive reaction about Bell, so we decided to give them a go,” he said.

“Looking at everything from the product to the after-sales, I have to say the results have been very positive. I was expecting a good quality product, and I believe that is what we got.”

Barton Plant has also purchased four B30D articulated dump trucks from Bell over the past two years.

Bell sales and marketing manager Nick Learoyd said: “Bell has established a solid reputation for its all-round service over many years, but word also seems to be spreading throughout the industry that our loaders give great value for money as well as them having the highest specification on the market.”
