BDP takes services role on Irish gallery refurb

30 Jan 13 BDP is building services engineer for a project to refurbish and upgrade the National Gallery of Ireland.

The €20m (£17m) project was announced this month. Heneghan Peng is architect for the scheme.

The key objective of the gallery’s master development plan is the refurbishment and upgrading of the historic Dargan and Milltown wings together with the provision of new, purpose-built accommodation for the collector, staff and gallery operators.

The work will involve the introduction of new air conditioning systems to maintain the required environmental conditions. One of the challenges will be integrating the new ductwork and terminals into the historic structure of the building whilst protecting the integrity of the building.
