Bids called for Inverness Campus infrastructure

3 Feb 11 Highlands and Islands Enterprise has called for bids for the infrastructure requirements of Phase I of the Inverness Campus project. The contract is worth up to £20m.

Work includes the construction of roads, bridges, pathways, landscaping, services (foul drainage, water supply, gas, electricity, telecoms), sustainable urban drainage system and external lighting.

The tender process will follow a two stage restricted competitive process with the deadline for submission of prequalification questionnaires 12 noon on Thursday 10 March 2011 and an anticipated contract date of July 2011. Work is expected to take 20 months to complete.

The Inverness Campus project covers a 36 hectares on a green field site at Beechwood, Invernes. Facilities to be built include a college, university and other educational facilities; health facilities, student residences, a social enterprise hotel, sports facilities, business incubator and research and other technology facilities.

Organisations involved include Inverness College, University of Highlands & Islands, Scottish Agricultural College and Centre for Health Science.

The key infrastructure elements will include: formation of new access roads into the site; a network of internal roads; a pedestrian and cycle bridge across the A9 trunk road; a network of pedestrian and cycle pathways; landscaping commensurate with the high quality vision for the site; utility services including foul drainage, water supply, gas, electricity, telecoms etc; Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS), and external lighting.
