Black & Veatch supports UK expansion of Engineers Without Borders

17 May 11 Black & Veatch has announced that it has has donated more than £43,000 to support the work of Engineers Without Borders (EWB), including the introduction of a programme to the UK.

EWB is an international organisation that facilitates engineers, non-engineers and students to implement projects that improve the quality of life in developing communities.

Black & Veatch has teamed up with EWB-UK to help lay the groundwork for opening up involvement to companies across the UK. “Black & Veatch professionals have been a crucial part in designing a plan to implement involvement of businesses for EWB-UK,” said EWB-UK CEO Andrew Lamb. “By incorporating companies’ support with students’ support, we will be able to make an even greater impact with our work,” he added.

"Through our work with Engineers Without Borders, Black & Veatch can live its Mission of Building a World of Difference outside of our projects sites and office walls,” said Black & Veatch executive vice president Don Stevens.. “We have a long-term focus to support Engineers Without Borders.”

Worldwide, Black & Veatch has donated more than US$200,000 (£123,000) to EWB since 2008 and has supported the efforts of more than 200 of its staff working on projects worldwide, including India, Honduras, Nicaragua, the Dominican Republic and El Salvador.
