Bouygues signs €74m Myanmar contract

11 Apr 13 Bouygues Construction subsidiary Dragages Singapore has entered the market in Myanmar - formerly Burma - with a €74m (£63m) contract win.

This is the first Bouygues contract following the opening of the country and the suspension of international economic sanctions.

It will work with SPA Project Management on the contract for Thanlyin Estate Development to design and build the second phase of Star City. The development on the outskirts of Yangon will feature 4,980 apartments, car parking and community facilities.

 The Dragages Singapore-led joint venture will undertake the engineering and construction of three blocks of eight-storey buildings, and two blocks of 12-storey buildings together with associated infrastructure.

Work is planned to start at the end of April 2013 this month, and the project is due to be completed in less than three years.

More than 500 staff and workers will be employed on the project and the the joint venture will provide training in modern construction techniques to contribute to the country’s development.
