Breedon gravel takes centre stage at London Zoo and in forthcoming blockbuster movie

4 Apr 11 Breedon Aggregates’ much sought-after Golden Amber Gravel is proving popular from the animal kingdom to the movie industry.

The specialist gravel has just been delivered to Shepperton Studios’ props department for use in the filming of forthcoming blockbuster ‘Clash of the Titan’s 2,’ as well as to top visitor attraction, London Zoo, where it is being used to landscape the popular Meerkat enclosure.

Angela Benzie, commercial manager for Breedon Special Aggregates, which produces the specialist material, said: “We often get requests from garden and landscape designers to use our gravel, but we’ve never been asked by a film studio before and requests from zoos are very unusual too!  People want it because it’s particularly hard-wearing and, of course, it is only produced at our quarry in Derbyshire.

“The movie stars and meerkats will be in good company.  The same gravel can be found at some of the UK’s most spectacular gardens, stately homes and historic venues, including Chatsworth House, Althorp House and Stourhead House.”

Derbyshire-based Breedon Aggregates is the sole producer of the prestigious Breedon Golden Amber gravel.  It is an environmentally friendly, resilient and natural graded limestone gravel which, when rolled to fullest compaction, provides an exceptional golden buff appearance and superb performance on footpaths and driveways.

Breedon Golden Amber gravel is held in very high regard by architects and landscapers and is used at many National Trust and English Heritage properties.
