Build Center up for sale

30 May 11 Builders merchant Wolseley has put three of its UK businesses up for sale, according to unconfirmed press reports.

The Sunday Times reports that Wolseley has appointed Bank of America Merrill Lynch to manage the sale of Build Center, Electric Center and insulation materials business Encon, which are together expected to raise £300m.

Travis Perkins, Jewson parent Saint Gobain and Ireland’s Grafton have reportedly expressed interest.

Build Center has 200 stores and more than 1,000 employees. It accounts for 15% of Wolseley’s UK sales.
