Buyer sought for Welsh concrete business

14 Jun 11 Concrete producer FH Gilman & Co has followed its subsidiary C&G Concrete into administration.

Failure of the Pemrokeshire-based company was blamed on a combination of market downturn and harsh winter weather.

Subsidiary C&G Concrete went into administration on 16 May. It did not take long for the whole group to follow.

Administrators Rob Lewis and Ross Connock of PwC are looking for a buyer.

Joint administrator Ross Connock said that FH Gilman & Co was a well-known business within its local markets with a strong reputation for quality and service.

He added: "Our main priority will be to continue to trade while we seek a sale of the business and assets. In looking to achieve a sale, it will be critical that we retain the ongoing support of both the employees and the suppliers to the business.”
