Caddick Construction will refurbish and expand the Henry West Building, Technology Centre and Annex at Hopwood Hall's Middleton Campus.

Middleton, northeast of Manchester, is the site of one of Hopwood Hall College & University Centre's two campuses; it is also in Rochdale.

On the Middleton campus Caddick will build a 15,000 sq ft extension to expand the college's provision of T-Level qualifications. The college was one of the first to be approved by the Department for Education to teach T-Levels, a two-year technical qualification for 16- to 19-year olds.

Caddick Construction starts on site this week and is expected to complete in spring 2023.

Lewis Crichton, head of facilities and risk management at Hopwood Hall College & University Centre, said: “The targeted investment into the college’s Technology Centre will expand on this offering by introducing a new Advanced Manufacturing Centre, along with expansion of current facilities to meet demand in other construction and engineering disciplines.”

Dave Burton, contracts’ manager at Caddick Construction, said: “We are proud to be helping Hopwood Hall Campus expand its facilities, including the state-of-the-art Technology Centre. This will enable the Middleton Campus to offer more T-levels and technical training, and provides a huge opportunity for students and employers to develop the skills of our future workforce. The college does fantastic work across a range of courses and is helping to attract new recruits into advanced construction, building trades and engineering which is welcomed by the industry.”
