Cotswold District Council had already rejected the scheme to build 600 homes in picturesque Moreton-in-Marsh, which only has 1,500 houses to start with, but Cala appealed to the secretary of state for communities and local government.

Local MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown said: "This is a victory for common sense."
