CHC renews fleet with 29 Volvos

4 May 11 Bury-based contractor CHC has embarked on a major fleet renewal programme that will see 29 Volvo machines added to its fleet in 2011.

“We are purchasing new equipment to ensure we continue to supply the very best machinery available to the industry and stay ahead as the sector starts to recover,” said plant director Sean Isherwood.

CHC has bought 29 machines to replace almost a third of its existing plant fleet. The deal includes 12 ADTs comprising a mix of four A30E and eight A40E models, supported by two EC140C, five EC210C, four EC360C, one EC460C and an EC700C excavator. In addition, two ECR88 and two ECR58 midi excavators complete the package.

All models have been purchased with a full three year repair and maintenance contract with the exception of the ECR88 and ECR58 excavators, which come with Volvo’s three-year warranty. All of the new machines are supplied with biodegradable oils.

Volvo has shown the same can-do attitude that we like to show our customers,” said Isherwood. “The level of support, professionalism and backup is exactly what we need from a plant supplier – and it has been available at all levels in Volvo, and at every depot.”

Volvo’s CareTrack telematics system is being supplied on all new equipment, and this represents the next stage of CHC’s fleet management programme to closely monitor fuel use while further improving productivity and efficiency on every machine.

“Escalating fuel cost is becoming a very big issue to everyone and if we can use CareTrack to help cut-down on idle time, while monitoring how kit is being utilised, we can get closer to being 100% efficient in everything we do,” he said.
