As an independent agency with its own secretariat, CIGA provides a 25-year guarantee for householders in the UK and Channel Islands who have cavity wall insulation fitted by registered installers. Nick Ralph was elected as Vice Chairman to provide a wider perspective in challenging times within this specialist industry.
Nick’s role at CIGA will include contributing to the strategic direction of the agency ensuring that the cavity wall insulation industry is equipped to respond to the opportunities offered as the economy recovers and as interest continues to grow for energy saving and insulation products. Whilst the number of traditional and standard cavities remaining to be filled is significant, the challenge for CIGA is to address more complex, non-standard cavities and manage the transition by the industry to other energy efficiency measures such as solid wall insulation.
Significant developments over the next twelve months within the Green Deal framework will see CIGA working very closely with other industry bodies like the NIA and SWIGA in key work areas and Nick will work to help facilitate this.

Whilst the industry does face some challenging times ahead, I look forward to taking these challenges on and working with the team at the CIGA to ensure we’re prepared and equipped to tackle these head on and that we provide technical leadership and clear consumer protection to help support the expansion of the solid wall and cavity wall insulation sectors.”
