Civils deal with Chartered Management Institute

28 Mar 14 Civil engineers have been granted a shortcut to chartered manager status thanks to a deal between the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).

The agreement opens up chartered manager status to ICE members with the appropriate engineering qualifications and management experience. ICE members can also get a 50% discount in their CMI fees.

Chartered engineers (CEng) and incorporated engineers (IEng) will all be able apply for chartered manager status via CMI’s ‘qualified’ route, if they have at least five years of management experience.

ICE director general Nick Baveystock said: “Chartered manager status complements ICE’s engineering qualifications and greatly endorses an individual’s management and leadership credentials – it is the ideal partner to IEng and CEng

CMI chief executive Ann Francke added: “Management and leadership are vital in delivering the nation’s infrastructure, which is why I am so pleased that we are working in partnership with the ICE.”
