Clancy helps prepare roads for 2,000t loads

5 Feb 13 Clancy Consulting has been involved with a strengthening project to prepare 150 miles of roads in Abu Dhabi to carry abnormal loads of up to 2,000t heading to a gas development.

In total, 126 loads had to be transported 150 miles from Abu Dhabi docks to the Shah Gas development on the northern edge of the ‘Empty Quarter’.

Fifty-six of the loads were 2,000t high power absorbers, which required strengthening works to existing highway structures along the route, and the formation of temporary structures within the central median to bridge four  main gas pipe lines leading to Umm Al Nar power station at Abu Dhabi docks.

Clancy was appointed by the contractor to liaise with the client EN Saipem, Gasco and the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport with regards to technical issues and undertake a resident engineer role during the works.
