Coleman to knock hole in New Street roof

24 May 11 Birmingham-based demolition contractor Coleman & Company has been awarded a £5.5m contract by Network Rail to knock a huge hole in the roof of a shopping centre.

The contractor will form a hole approximately 100m by 50m in the roof of the Pallasades shopping centre at Birmingham New Street railway station so that a huge atrium can be constructed.

The work is part of is Birmingham gateway project.

  Also for the New Street Station redevelopment, Network Rail has selected  Portuguese cladding contractor Martifer Construcoes Metalomecanicas to supply and install approximately20,000 square metres of stainless steel external rainscreen facade and associated secondary support steelwork.
