Concentral in administration

12 Jan 11 Concrete contractor Concentral Ltd and sister company Concentral Plant are in administration.

The companies are now being managed by insolvency practitioner Martin Pickard of Milton Keynes-based Mazars.

All 40 employees have been laid off.

Concentral was set up in Nuneaton in 2006 by former Laing O’Rourke men Martin Hewlett and Graeme Stewart. Mr Hewlett, 47, had been construction director of Laing O’Rourke since 1995 and Mr Stewart, 44, who was a project manager there.

The two were the sole shareholders of Concentral, with Mr Hewlett as managing director and Mr Stewart as construction director.

In its short life, Concentral has undertaken contracts up to £10m for the construction of concrete structures and associated groundworks across England and South Wales.

The holding company, Concentral Group Ltd, as well as Concentral Developments and post-tensioning company Concentral PT, are not in administration but have no active assets, administrator Martin Pickard said.

Mr Pickard said that Concentral had had a couple of contracts that did not go well.and had "run out of cash".

Concentral is totally unconnected to the building contractor Concentra Ltd, formerly trading as Durkan Pudelek.
