Cinwood, a Corsham-based excavation and groundworks contractor has bought a new Doosan DX140LC excavator and put it to work near the seafront at Clevedon in Somerset.

It is the company’s first medium-sized Doosan excavator and was supplied by dealer Kellands (Plant Sales).

Cinwood is run by the father-and-son team of Ian and Matt Storie. Matt Storie said: “The standard specification of the Doosan excavators is very high, including several important features and options not available on other machines on the market and Kellands put together the best value package for our budget.

“The Doosan DX140LC crawler excavator is ideal for a wide range of excavation and general construction applications.  The standard cabin pack includes useful features such as a plastic cover that forms a lip at the top of the cab windows that keeps the rain off even when the window is open, minimising the amount of water getting into the cab and maintaining the high visibility all round the machine when the windows are closed.  Another standard safety feature is the rear-facing camera, pictures from which can be seen on the dashboard by pushing a button so you get an instant view of what’s behind you.  The standard package also offers a full set of roof-mounted lights all round the excavator, which are ideal for working on the shorter days in the winter.”

Powered by the Doosan DL06 diesel engine providing 71kW (95hp) at a maximum governed speed of 1850rpm, the DX140LC excavator has a maximum digging depth of 5645mm, a dump height of 8675mm and a maximum digging reach of 8300mm.  The six-cylinder Doosan engine and e-EPOS operating system are designed to optimise productivity, controllability and fuel economy.

Mr Storie added: “The cab on the DX140LC is bigger than most and offers the comfort needed to work a long shift.  The hydraulics are very smooth and the performance of the new machine echoes the views we had from other companies running Doosan excavators in the area.  We’ve only heard good things about the Doosan range from these companies.”
